Iranian Americans Share Perspectives on Rising Tensions Between Israel and Iran

by

The Iranian diaspora in the United States is expressing a complex range of perspectives following the recent military escalations between Israel and Iran. In areas like Los Angeles, home to a significant Iranian population, many community members emphasize a distinction between the Iranian people and the current government. While some express hope that external pressure could lead to political change, others voice deep concerns regarding the safety of their families and the potential for a humanitarian crisis. The prevailing sentiment reflects a mixture of desire for reform and fear of regional instability.

  • Many Iranian-Americans distinguish between the actions of the Islamic Republic’s leadership and the aspirations of the Iranian civilian population.
  • Some members of the diaspora believe that targeted military or diplomatic pressure is necessary to weaken the current regime’s hold on power.
  • There is significant anxiety regarding the physical safety of relatives still living in Iran who could be caught in the crossfire of a wider conflict.
  • While many oppose the current Iranian government, there is a lack of consensus on whether foreign military intervention is a viable path toward democratic change.
  • The community remains focused on the potential long-term consequences of war, including economic hardship and further displacement of the Iranian people.

  1. Just like the Cubans in Miami that fled after the Batista government fell. The Iranians protesting in the US are the ones that benefited from the CIA/Shah regime. Their children don't know any better and follow their parents ideas

  2. Now we want the reaction of ones living there proudly.

  3. Once the markets open on Monday the markets are going down. Welcome to $6 A gallon of gas. Thanks to Trump. The war will continue for months to come.

  4. Most Iranians are supporters of this war!!

  5. The idea is to destroy the country if they can't take it. If you cant be mine then you wont be for anyone mentality.

  6. I am surprised. I was pretty sure that 99.9% of all women would be against the regime and recovery. But here we are.

  7. If a people relies on someone else to give them their freedom, how it is done is not their choice.

  8. If the liberal American Iranians like that Trump is waging war on the brutal Iran regime but don’t approve of the method, they should tell us how better to conduct their war. All I hear is Trump bad but war is good…😂😂😂

  9. Depends what kind of Iranian you ask the question. There are "Western" orientated Iranians and there are Iranians who are Extreme Religious fanatics. It's pretty much 50:50.

  10. The delay for boots on ground has a reason. The US military soldier is asking who we are fighting for? In the light of massive cuts imposed on medical care and education, what will be the future of our widows and orphans? They see a number of homeless veterans and enormous tax relaxation to corporates. So, they don't see a reason to give up their life for those who made their lives miserable.

  11. Regime will collapse. Thanks to bibi and trump

  12. How “some” Iranians. She does not represent all of them.

  13. btw your so called guest is obviously a regime or NIAC sympathizer

  14. Who took the poll that people living in Iran wants a regime change? It is the western media trying to sway peoples mind with this type of statements. Comments from100 people don't represent that this is what the population wants. It is biased.

  15. She is either completely out of touch with reality, or deliberately lying. Most Iranians 'support' the military intervention, simply because they see no other way to dislodge the regime.

  16. Most American Iranians wanted an Iranian Regime Change before the war started and now they want an American Regime Change after the war has started.🤔 Quite a deflection and what a pity.🤭

  17. Bombing universities, schools, hospitals & water storages & civilian homes is not freedom but that's American freedom, they destory the countries, murder millions of civilians then leave the people they promised to free in a worse situation than ever before just like Iraq, Libya & Afghanistan.
No one is talking about freeing Afgan women anymore 😢

  18. NOW they are weary and fearful 🙄?When the world was say NO to this war they were dancing and rejoicing 🙄.
