Israel Implements Restricted Security Zone in Southern Lebanon

Date:

The Israeli military has intensified its operations in southern Lebanon, implementing a strategy aimed at creating a buffer zone along the border to prevent Hezbollah incursions and rocket fire. This approach involves significant demolition of buildings in border villages, which Israeli officials state are used by Hezbollah for military purposes. The offensive has led to large-scale displacement of Lebanese civilians as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issue evacuation orders for areas south of the Litani River. The operation seeks to enable tens of thousands of displaced Israelis to return to their homes in the north.

  • The Israel Defense Forces are establishing a security buffer zone in southern Lebanon, targeting infrastructure used by Hezbollah militants.
  • Military actions include controlled demolitions and heavy bombardment of Lebanese border villages to eliminate tunnels and weapons caches.
  • Israeli officials state the goal of the campaign is to safely return approximately 60,000 residents to communities in northern Israel.
  • Massive displacement has occurred on both sides, with hundreds of thousands of Lebanese civilians fleeing northward away from the combat zone.
  • The IDF has warned Lebanese residents to remain away from designated military zones as ground operations and airstrikes continue to expand.

  1. So Israel is a 'state' not a country? Is that how they are forging to increase the size of their state? Should red lines be drawn (as per the 2 state solution IMO FWIW), call it a country and hold them to account for crossing their own borders? How is a state getting away with this but a country could not? (Forgive me, I'm new to geopolitics)

  2. Israel hasn't been a democratic nation for many years. It's a Surveillance / Security -State. One of many liberal Canadians disgusted by the actions of the Theologian State in both Iran & Israel…

  3. I wonder why do they want all those lands comparing their population 🤔 🙄 they got enough land why can't they stick with previous one ..its simple they don't want to live in peace and peace its a problem to them

  4. Major problem: Veto power in the United Nations. Solution: Every country resigns from the United Nations and establishes a United Nations 2 in any country except the United States, with absolutely no veto power for any country. Problem solved. The alternative is to join Trump’s “Bored with Peace”.

  5. Good work.

If a neighbouring country cannot, or refuses to, prevent terror regimes from using their territory to attack a neighbouring country, then the country being attacked has every right in law to protect themselves.

Any Lebanese citizen who doesn’t want this to persist has only their own government to blame.

Take back your own damn country Lebanon. Call on the world to help you get rid of Hezbollah once and for all. You and your country are beautiful and you have a right to live in peace.

But if you do nothing to eject Hezbollah, or if you harbour them, and you government can’t or won’t do it, then Israel MUST protect their citizens. This is not complicated whatsoever.
