Indian Government Deploys Electronic Means Alongside Police to Counter Protests

Date:

The Indian government is deploying digital and electronic measures alongside traditional law enforcement tactics to manage public protests across the country. In addition to physical barriers and tear gas, authorities are utilizing targeted internet shutdowns, social media account suspensions, and electronic surveillance technologies such as drones and facial recognition systems. These digital interventions aim to restrict the coordination of large gatherings and monitor protest activities, prompting discussions from civil rights groups regarding digital privacy and freedom of expression.

  • Indian authorities are implementing regional internet suspensions and bandwidth restrictions to slow the coordination of demonstrations.
  • Social media accounts and online content related to protest organization are subject to government-directed blocking orders.
  • Law enforcement agencies are utilizing electronic surveillance tools, including drones and facial recognition software, to monitor crowd movements.
  • Electronic measures operate in tandem with physical containment strategies, including concrete barricades and heavy police deployments.
  • Digital rights organizations have raised concerns regarding the impact of state-mandated communications restrictions on civil liberties.

  1. The area the "protesters" were trying to march to is highly protected, ever since that last terror attack. They knew this, I believe.
I think the Education Minister should resign too. But I don't like the way these protests have been conducted and I won't support anyone who thinks pelting stones at policemen or even random passers-by is a valid way to make their voices heard. If one can't protest peacefully, one shouldn't protest at all.

  2. They are not letting people protest. They are taking note of voters they will remove or punish. At this point it is clear Modu will choose emergency over resignation. INDIA IS DOOMED DUE TO ANDHBHAKTS & GREEDY.

  3. Dear DW News, Your Source Countries have Tried Hard, But our Govt Will not back down,India is not a Puppet state like Bangladesh,Nepal or Srilanka, Try your Best, We are Prepared.
