Severe drought conditions across France have significantly impacted the nation’s dairy and cheese production, particularly traditional varieties bound by strict regional standards. The lack of rainfall has dried up grazing pastures, leaving farmers unable to fulfill Appellation d’Origine Protégée (AOP) requirements that dictate cows must feed on fresh grass. As a result, the production of several renowned cheeses, such as Salers, has been temporarily suspended, raising financial concerns for local farmers and disrupting regional agricultural supply chains.
- Prolonged heatwaves and a lack of rainfall have depleted grazing pastures across key dairy regions in France.
- Strict Appellation d’Origine Protégée (AOP) guidelines require specific grass-feeding percentages, forcing some producers to halt certified cheese production.
- Farmers have been forced to utilize winter hay reserves early to feed livestock, driving up operational costs.
- Reduced milk yields and rising feed expenses are creating substantial economic pressures for regional agricultural communities.

Europe is not at the woods yet because they had 3 days of heatwave to handle it. Be safe and be strong Europe
So sad to hear about the goats dying. I could wait a long time for cheese if it meant smaller herds of animals that were less apt to suffer.
No problem,, always engage in War,, Russia Ukraine for 4 yrs, Now Iran and burn the World to hell and be calm cause there's no impact on environment
The other person needs to use a beard net for hygiene.
The farmer is asking for sympathy as his animals die in the heat.. maybe use those subsidies you get that reimburse you for the hay you buy to pay for some air conditioning to keep your animals FROM SUFFERING AND DYING. But you don’t actually care about the animals for anything more than the money you make off them. You don’t care about their wellbeing for the sake of that alone. Only bc it brings you a profit. And I’m willing to bet, in the country of France, that farmer will be subsidized for every blade of hay he has to buy.
Good news for the cheese makers, the price goes up.

He who burns his backside must sit on the blisters. People will be sitting on the blisters for a long time to come regarding the way humanity produces nitrogen and continues to minimize the consequences.
