In 2015, a major Chinese e-commerce giant organized a special marketing campaign in order to attract traffic and attention. The campaign stipulated that as long as users used the platform to make purchases within the specified period, even if they immediately requested a refund after making the purchase, they would still be considered participants in the campaign and could claim the rewards.

However, when some people participated extensively under these campaign rules and obtained substantial rewards, the company reversed its position and claimed that such behavior constituted fraud. I am a participant in this incident. All nine of my associates and I were sentenced to more than ten years in prison because of the company’s accusations.

I am not saying that what we did was honorable or something to be proud of. We did want to make money from them through this campaign. But we did not deceive anyone, did we? They were the ones who made the rules. Yet they used legal means to almost destroy our lives.

Today, I have served my sentence and been released. I want to speak out for myself, and I also hope this incident can spark more attention and discussion—about corporate power, the definition of fraud, and whether the platform engaged in luring and misleading users.

At the same time, I have also produced a series of videos exposing the various scandals and egregious acts of this company, including the rampant sale of counterfeit goods, executives sexually assaulting female subordinates, internal employees accepting bribes, and so on.
