AfD Gains Support in German Opinion Polls as CDU Leader Friedrich Merz Struggles

Date:

Recent political polling in Germany indicates growing support for the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD), while Friedrich Merz, leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), faces challenges with personal approval ratings. Despite the CDU/CSU alliance maintaining a lead as the strongest overall political bloc in national projections, voter skepticism regarding Merz’s leadership has impacted his favorability. Public dissatisfaction with the current federal coalition, combined with ongoing debates surrounding economic conditions and migration policy, continues to drive shifts in party support across the country.

  • Recent opinion polls show an increase in voter support for the Alternative for Germany (AfD) at both national and regional levels.
  • CDU Chairman Friedrich Merz is experiencing declining personal popularity and approval ratings among surveyed voters.
  • The conservative CDU/CSU bloc remains the leading political force in general election projections despite leadership favorability challenges.
  • Public frustration with government handling of economic stagnation, energy costs, and immigration continues to influence polling dynamics.

  1. Wer sagt das? Irgendein amerikanischer Pollster?

  2. ‘elensky curse😅
The man with the green T-shirt is destroying Europe. European leaders are too obsessed with Ukraine much more than taking care of their own people. Billions going to Ukraine while their economies suffer, the irony is they do seem to see it. Wake up Europe!

  3. The socialists in Germany are the same as they were in 1936. They merely removed the word national. A perpetual disregard for democracy and an enduring belief in state controlled violence to enforce group obedience among the ethnic Germans.

  4. When the Centre fails/refuses to address society's challenges, the fringe becomes the only voice the electors find to turn to. It's like trying to debate after taking a vow of silence. Why won't Europe's political elites grasp this concept???

  5. Honestly, no one can save Germany at this point. Whoever the next chancellor is, he or she needs to heed the advice of Otto von Bismarck, the Iron Chancellor, to make peace with Russia. Forget Ukraine. That's the blackhole that will suck Germany dry.

  6. It is understandable since CDU and SPD have both failed! Germany is just a colony of the US/Israel nexus. But most Germans, irrespective of their orientation, probably wants a Germany that is sovereign and asserts its own economic, national and geopolitical interests, especially when these are in conflict with the US, people want Germany First. How does propping up a US proxy war on Russia – the source of Germany's energy that kept German industry competitive for decades – a war which the US has walked away from, help Germany? How does supporting a hated Israel regime, which puts Germany on the wrong side of a geopolitical divide in which the vast majority of the world are on the other side, help Germany?

  7. Mertz is done he is not a leader; the confidence is lost Steinmeir is basically the ruler of Germany that I have confidence in he as president has ultimate authority and will deny AfD a position in reichstag will not make the same mistake like Hindenburg; German people have to understand just like under the Prussia’s who holds power in Germany and why people like the president of Germany exist for reasons like this; the AfD will not form a government trust me
