El Niño Could Be Strongest in Four Decades, WMO Chief Warns

Date:

The World Meteorological Organization has warned that the current El Niño event could become one of the strongest recorded in the past four decades. The natural climate pattern, characterized by anomalous warming of sea surface temperatures in the central and eastern Pacific Ocean, significantly alters global atmospheric circulation. Officials warn that the phenomenon will likely drive global temperatures higher and exacerbate extreme weather conditions worldwide, amplifying the risks of prolonged heatwaves, intense droughts, and destructive flooding across multiple continents.

  • The World Meteorological Organization warned that the El Niño event has the potential to be among the strongest in 40 years.
  • El Niño is driven by warmer-than-average sea surface temperatures in the tropical Pacific, impacting weather patterns across the globe.
  • The phenomenon is expected to push global average temperatures higher, compounding the effects of ongoing climate change.
  • Anticipated impacts include disrupted rainfall patterns, heightened drought conditions in certain regions, and increased flood risks in others.
  • Early warning systems and targeted preparedness strategies are urged to protect vulnerable communities, infrastructure, and agricultural sectors.

  1. Awesome , I'm going to enjoy a nice mild winter.
If I listened to or believed all of the CLIMATE doom goblins, then all humans should be dead by now and all the oceans should be 100ft higher then they are today!

I'm 52 and I will never believe in your nonsense ever again, climate warming , then to climate change, and now to how global warming affects climate change.
Go outside on a clear day and look for the bright spot in the sky, and then go do some research on how it affects the temperatures on Earth.

  2. Ironic: those who deny climate change are often the same people who want to restrict / stop migration… the irony of course being that their denial only fuels the migration that they despise. Hatred is costly
