FYI: All 4 Canadians are now in British Columbia, somewhere on Vancouver Island. All are healthy now. They are being housed separately. One person who lives alone in their home, a couple from the Yukon is lodging together and another Canadian on their own in other accommodation. They are in their 60s and 70s. They are exhausted, have no desire to go anywhere and are happy to be home in Canada again. They are within easy and safe access to an infectious disease hospital if they develop symptoms. They will quarantine for the next 21 days. (BTW, if any more of the passengers or crew is diagnosed, the first 21 day quarantine period starts over again.) They are following the same quarantine rules as with covid (not going anywhere, no contact with people, can sit out in the sun, masking if outside, groceries and meds delivered to them, etc.). They are being monitored and if they need anything, they have someone to call to make it happen. They’ve got familiar housing, familiar food, Wi-Fi and familiar TV programming. This helps with mental health. At the end of 21 days, a decision will be made as to whether the quarantine will be extended for another 21 days where they are or elsewhere. There is a clear plan, it has been communicated and everyone is following it. Many questions but no panic in Canada. Much more will be learned in the coming weeks. It is disconcerting to hear that a few of the passengers from other countries are unwell and testing positive now. My thoughts are with them.
