I left secondary school education in 1977 at the age of16 ,having sat my CSE exams of about 6 subjects all the results were not worth the paper they were written on (that was purley my fault),i remember the exam's themselves two pencils a ruler a sharpener a rubber and a few peices of BLANK paper the calculator and smartphones hadn't been invented yet the question papers looked like an edition of war and peace ,every question was a couple of paragraphs long and the answer needed to be explained how you got it, multiple choice was unheard of and that is my point educate me iff i'm wrong ,every year at this time the results come out and every year they are better than last year everybody gets top marks so they can bragg how clever they are ,they all rush around looking for university time to run up astronomical debt to become what employers call over educated the whole thing is a circus,i left school on the friday and started my apprenticeship on the monday with no qualifications ,i walked in and out of various employment for a few years but always earned (ok you couldn't do that today)i've just retired at 65 and you could count the sick days on one hand that i ever took, i think academics are so over rated, not all but most kids today are clever but thick as far as intelligence and common sense is concerned,"just a thought".
