Malaysia Pushes for Higher Biodiesel Use Amid Rising Oil Prices

Date:

Malaysia is accelerating the implementation of higher biodiesel blending mandates as a strategic response to rising global crude oil prices. By increasing the proportion of palm oil-derived biofuel in the national fuel supply, the government aims to reduce its reliance on imported petroleum and mitigate the rising costs of fuel subsidies. This initiative is also intended to strengthen the domestic palm oil industry by securing consistent internal demand, helping to stabilize the economy against international market volatility.

  • The Malaysian government is prioritizing the roll-out of higher biodiesel mandates, such as B20, to counter the impact of high energy costs.
  • Integrating more palm oil into the fuel mix is expected to lower the total fiscal expenditure required for national fuel subsidies.
  • The policy provides critical support to local palm oil producers by creating a reliable domestic market for their products.
  • Officials view the shift as a necessary step toward enhancing national energy security and reducing dependency on foreign oil imports.
  • The transition involves ongoing assessments of engine compatibility and infrastructure readiness to ensure a smooth adoption across the transport sector.

  1. Do you know what is a leader with a military background and from civilian political party ? Former military leader decides fast , assign capable people and get it done quickly. He will not hesitate to do harsh and out of the box policy as long he sees the real result, not afraid of being criticized. Prabowo just show us what decisive leadership meant before any crisis come to roost :

    1. Biofuel policy ( Biodiesel, Bio gasoline and Sustainable
Aircraft Fuel , Coal gasification )

    2. Push for renewable energy
    ( Geothermal, Wind, Solar,
    Hydro , Waste To Energy
    ( Biomass )

    3. Basic Food security ( Rice
    etc ) and tight market
    intervention to control
    inflation. We have also
    huge surplus of
    Fertilizer

    4 Enough alternative non
    from Coal, LNG and soon
    SMR using Thorium and
    Uranium ( without cheap
    energy ,data centers for
    AI and Industries is
    unsustainable

  2. Indonesian Biodiesel is not FAME, it's even closed to fossil diesel. It's been a long research for the catalyst. that make even b50 having no issue in compared to traditional FAME.
