  1. What you are witnessing recently is the much awaited, yet slow "pivot to Asia," the final step and the most important one to American hegemony. Donroe doctrine to secure the western hemisphere was the first step. However, oil (int'lly mostly middle east)) is the intermediate step that has hit a snafu. But sounds like S. Korea, Japan, Phillipines etc. are stepping up in the meantime. Then again if they pull it off too well, would the US then become the freerider?

  2. Scenario 1: MuriKKKa is invading Taiwan, for national security. Operation Epic Fuzzy Furry
Scenario 2: MuriKKKa throws full support behind China and supports the reunification of China with Taiwan and will not come to the rescue of Taiwan.

  3. A call for everybody to develop/buy weapons independent of the hegemon?
Europe will develop their own. Others will buy from China, Europe and Russia.
By the way, China's military budget is well below 3.5% of GDP. May be Hegseth wants China to up the budget, as China is now a great friend of US, according to Trump.
