In 1852, loosing all material possessions and cast in a deep dungeon jail for four months became aware of his destiny, later writing ……“When I contemplate, O my God, the relationship the bindeth me to Thee, I am moved to proclaim to all created things “verily I am God”; and when I consider my own self, lo, find it courser than clay.” Before his passing the evening of May 29, 1892, Baha’u’llah had written over 15,000 tablets and epistles. His Will designated his oldest son Abdu'l Baha, (Servant of God, 1850-1921) born the evening of the Bab's declaration, the Head of The Baha’i Faith.
🇨🇦 Abdu’l-Baha, now 68 after 56 years an exile and prisoner, in 1912 traveled to America declining a ticket on the Titanic for a less expensive ship to New York. He spent 239 days, travelling to Montreal and the US West Coast via Chicago. He visited 44 localities in 15 States plus Quebec and Toronto, giving 351 talks to over 86,000 people, with hundreds of Newspaper articles written, becoming known as "The Prophet of Peace," foretelling the coming of WW1. Later Knighted by the British for his humanitarian work in Palestine during WW1.
🇨🇦 In Chicago, where the magnificent Baha'i Temple now stands in Willamette, meeting Rabindranath Tagore, (1861-1941) forming a life long friendship that transcended time and place, even adopting Abdul Bahas manor of dress. In 1913 Tagore received the Nobel Award for his Poetry then becoming India’s foremost contemporary Cultural Icon. Writing both India's and Bangladesh’s National Anthems, founding many schools, universities and a prominent writer and artist.Tagore continued his relationship with the Bahai’s. At the Ritz Carlton Hotel, New York City Dec. 7, 1930 saying, …”The first Prophet whom we know in the history of man was Zoroaster, born in Persia who preached the oneness of God where arose another great prophet of the modern age. Baha’u’llah, who also preached God as profoundly one, in all races, tribes, and sects, the true worship of whom consists in service that has reason for it’s guide, and goodness and love for its inner motive purpose. We are here tonight to offer our homage to Baha’u’llah. He is the latest Prophet to come out of Asia.
