Israeli Ministerial Committee Approves Bill for Death Penalty for Palestinians Convicted of Killing Israelis

Date:

An Israeli ministerial committee has granted preliminary approval to a legislative proposal that would allow the death penalty for individuals convicted of killing Israeli citizens in acts categorized as terrorism. The bill, which specifically addresses killings motivated by nationalist sentiment, was a significant policy demand from far-right elements within the governing coalition. While the measure has cleared this initial stage, it requires several additional rounds of voting and review in the Knesset before it can be formally enacted into law.

  • The Israeli ministerial committee for legislation has moved forward with a bill to introduce the death penalty for certain acts of terrorism.
  • The proposed law targets those convicted of killing Israelis for “nationalist” reasons or out of hostility toward the state.
  • The legislation was spearheaded by the Otzma Yehudit party as part of its coalition agreement with the current government.
  • Capital punishment is currently not a standard practice in the Israeli judicial system, except in extremely rare circumstances.
  • To become law, the bill must pass multiple readings and votes within the Israeli parliament, the Knesset.

  1. Israel passed a law to bring back the death penalty for Palestinians accused of killing Israelis. But Israelis have been killing Palestinians for 77 years, and no one does anything. So before, they were killing them without a license. Now they have a license to kill. They just killed thousands in Gaza. Now they want to add the death penalty on top of that. It's absurd. What's the point of international laws when no one respects them? The world is hypocritical. Sometimes it's hard not to lose hope.

  2. If this does not show what a horrible regime is in Israel, I don't know what will. Israeli killing Palestinians is ok including about 70 thousand mostly innocent people largely women and children, but the opposite means automatic death penalty. Clearly, they want steal all of Palestinian land with impunity. And the US is supporting this regime???

  3. Israelis sounds confused… death penalty abolished for murder. Unless they're racist white europeans and they want to keep death penalty on murder conviction for non-whites and indigenous native people only only. This has nothing to do with religion because muslims especially palestenian muslims are kind of jews and arab people in general are more semitic than these european colonizers 😂
