Cuba Suffers Second Islandwide Blackout in a Week

Date:

Cuba is experiencing a severe energy crisis following a second islandwide blackout within a single week. The collapse of the national electrical grid has left millions of residents without power, forcing the government to suspend school classes and shut down non-essential government services. Officials attribute the systemic failure to deteriorating infrastructure, fuel shortages, and increased demand, complicating ongoing efforts to stabilize the country’s power supply.

  • Cuba’s national electrical grid collapsed for the second time in a week, plunging the entire island into darkness.
  • The power grid failure was initiated by issues at major thermoelectric plants, including the Antonio Guiteras power station.
  • In response to the crisis, the Cuban government has suspended schools, closed non-essential businesses, and sent non-essential workers home to conserve energy.
  • Authorities attribute the grid’s instability to critical fuel shortages, declining domestic production, and poorly maintained infrastructure.
  • Recovery and restoration efforts are ongoing but face additional challenges from approaching tropical weather systems.

  1. What blockade? In Cuba there isn't one…that claim is a false legend raised by the communist regime to charge the blame in someone else, a common practice in communist playbook ( every bad thing happens is because the capitalism, americans, rich people, bourgeois, counter revolutionaires, etc) never the leaders that has been squeezing the country and promise the heaven on earth, bit never delivers

  2. the blockade on medical goods is false… the cuban govt takes them or imposes heavy taxes on importing them.. the fuel is one thing yes. but other goods no and havent been on teh embargo list.
