Apple Updates Siri AI with On-Screen Awareness and Enhanced iPhone Search

Date:

Apple is introducing major artificial intelligence enhancements to Siri, focusing on on-screen awareness and deeper integration across native iPhone applications. The updated voice assistant can interpret context directly from what is visible on a user’s display, allowing it to execute commands within and between apps. Additionally, the system utilizes a semantic index of personal data to search across messages, emails, photos, and calendar events. Designed to prioritize privacy, most AI processing occurs on-device, with complex computational requests routed to dedicated private cloud servers.

  • Siri features on-screen awareness, enabling the assistant to identify and interact with content currently visible to the user.
  • A personal semantic index allows Siri to cross-reference data across native apps, such as finding specific details in emails or text messages.
  • The assistant can complete multi-step tasks within applications using conversational voice or text prompts.
  • Core processing takes place locally on the device, with advanced queries sent to encrypted private cloud servers that do not retain user data.

  1. 🫪😵‍💫🎉I swear, we're just gonna have the iPixel at some point!

All of these features have been on Pixel's for at least 2 years now. The baked in nutrition guide in the camera app is fun and unique, but. not something I would advise getting over accustomed to in place of seeing a licensed professional evaluate your nutrition.

EVERYTHING ELSE I have on my non-flasgship Google Pixel 10a, which is more affordable than any iPhone which supports Siri AI.

I hate what this company has done to smartphones, to tech culture, to "innovation," and marketing. I hate it. I hate it. How much money do you think they paid WSJ for all this? It's a literal ad campaign masquerading as tech journalism 🫠

  2. I don't like those new features, They seem over-engineered, and useless for the majority of users. We would like our phones to become simpler, and easier to use, without all that useless garbage.
