The Houthis, officially known as Ansar Allah, are a Zaydi Shia political and militant group based in Yemen that has become a central player in regional instability. Emerging from the northern highlands of Yemen, the group has expanded its influence through a protracted civil war and is widely recognized for its strategic alignment with Iran. In recent years, the Houthis have increasingly projected power beyond Yemen’s borders, launching drone and missile attacks against international shipping lanes in the Red Sea and targeting regional adversaries, including Israel.
