Researchers Explore Using Genetic Engineering to Curb the Spread of Lyme Disease

Date:

Researchers are developing genetic engineering strategies to combat the spread of Lyme disease by immunizing wild white-footed mice, the primary natural reservoir for the bacterium. By introducing protective antibodies directly into the DNA of the mice, scientists aim to make native populations resistant to Lyme and tick bites, breaking the transmission cycle before the infection reaches humans. Focused on potential trial releases on isolated islands such as Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, the project emphasizes ecological safety, local governance, and community consent prior to introducing genetically altered animals into the environment.

  • White-footed mice are the primary carriers of the Lyme disease bacterium, infecting the deer ticks that subsequently transmit the illness to humans.
  • Biotechnologists are engineering mice to naturally produce antibodies against the Lyme pathogen and tick saliva, preventing the bacteria from multiplying.
  • The project avoids self-propagating gene drives, opting instead for standard genetic inheritance that allows the altered traits to dilute over time if releases cease.
  • Islands such as Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket are designated as potential initial test sites due to their isolated ecosystems and high rates of tick-borne illness.
  • Researchers are conditioning any potential field deployment on transparent public engagement and formal approval from local residents and regulatory authorities.

  1. No it cannot always be treated with antibiotics. I’ve been bedridden for years because I did not get treatment because I did not know I had it for many many years. I cannot go into any woods ever again until this issue is resolved and I recommend no one let their children in areas that have ticks. Basically anywhere outside unless you’re in the city. It’s a nightmare. I am very glad that something is finally being done bc most doctors, even Lyme doctors refuse to admit that it even exists and we all know why.

  2. ' Oh, '…Why didn't you just ask. I know what the Antidote is: Answer: Do not question Me, just follow my instructions. Answer: Not the Crystals that you buy inside the store. Instead: [ Liquid Stevia in the small 1.5-2 Ounce Bottles. You can even find it at your Local Walmart. It Actually Works.

Here, Liquid Stevia in Liquid Form, Taken Sublingually, ( Under Your Tongue, and Left in your mouth for about 3 Minutes, is just about right.

The Rationale: Research.., some research was conducted years ago. Some began to realize: Lyme Disease is caused, by [ Microscopic Spirochetes].

The Spirochetes, ' They Absolutely HATE the Stevia Plant!!!! It Kills Them Dead, and Straight Away. I learned this personally, back in Fall, 2018, Two Years post my 2016 MS diagnosis. I was doing research, and found this simple liquid to be ' Very Helpful Indeed. '

You'll be fine, just get and put as much as you want, under your tongue. The liquid, is cheap, tastes good, and it absolutely worked for Me. It just might fix you right up. Hope this helps. Peace ✌️ ❤
