NASA’s Artemis II Mission: Four Astronauts Prepare for First Crewed Lunar Flight in Over 50 Years

Date:

NASA is preparing for the Artemis II mission, marking the first time humans will return to lunar orbit in over five decades. The mission will carry a crew of four, including the first woman and the first person of color to travel to the Moon, as well as a Canadian astronaut. This crewed flight serves as a critical test for the Orion spacecraft and the Space Launch System rocket, performing a flyby of the Moon before returning to Earth. The mission’s success is a prerequisite for the subsequent Artemis III lunar landing mission.

  • The Artemis II crew consists of NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, alongside Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen.
  • This mission represents the first crewed journey to the lunar vicinity since the final Apollo mission in 1972.
  • The flight is designed to test the life-support systems and maneuverability of the Orion spacecraft while carrying humans in deep space.
  • The mission profile involves a lunar flyby rather than a surface landing, with the spacecraft returning to Earth for a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean.
  • The Artemis II launch is currently scheduled to take place no earlier than late 2025, following technical reviews and safety preparations.

  1. Here’s what will happen next: NASA will land humans on the moon. Before China or anyone else. The first since 1972. Moon territory will be claimed. “We were here first, blah, blah, blah.” Bases will be set up. The moon’s key resources (water ice, oxygen, iron, silicon, and Helium-3 etc.) will be exploited. These resources are finite. Squabbling will arise as soon as anyone other than NASA lands on the moon. War on Earth based on who gets what on the moon. Humans, eh? We are awful. Luckily, I won’t be here to witness this. 😊

  2. Will you people PLEASE…, PLEASE…, PLEASE… stop reporting on this Artemis ll pathetic spam in a can, NASA theatre… crap, given the facts we have long been aware of when it comes to the reality of there being these extraterrestrial 'people' whose advanced spacecraft we have been told has been reverse engineered and in our possession that can, and has brought our people to and back from the moon in minutes.
Artemis ll is a joke, a distraction from the reality of there being these ET people and their advanced spacecraft.

  3. best book about the moon was written by a guy who worked in company, making rocket engines for shuttles. his name was Bill Kaysing. book called – we never went to the moon, americas 30 billion dollar swindle…. everyone knows that Russia well and truly won space race.
