Australia Struggles to Reduce High Rates of Indigenous Children in Out-of-Home Care

Date:

Australia is facing a significant challenge as the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in out-of-home care continues to increase. Despite national “Closing the Gap” targets aimed at reducing these figures, data indicates that the disparity between Indigenous and non-Indigenous children in the child protection system is widening. Officials and community advocates are calling for urgent systemic reforms, emphasizing that current approaches are failing to address the root causes of family separation and the historical impact of previous government policies.

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children remain significantly over-represented in the Australian child protection system compared to non-Indigenous children.
  • The national target to reduce the rate of Indigenous children in out-of-home care by 45% by 2031 is currently not on track to be met.
  • Historical factors, including the legacy of the Stolen Generations, continue to influence the high rates of modern-day child removals.
  • Advocates argue that a lack of funding for preventative, community-led services is a primary driver behind the increasing numbers of children entering the system.
  • Government reports highlight the need for a fundamental shift toward Indigenous-led decision-making and early intervention strategies to address the crisis.

  1. Are there Any prosperous, successful, well managed, safe, clean, high-trust and advanced predominately black societies on Any continents?..
Why are they Always such dangerous, poorly maintained 💩-holes?

  2. 42 billion every year for a population of less than 1 million, which is exclusive to First Nations people. So the answer is no. The only way Australia have failed them, at least in the modern day, is by succumbing to radical far left extremists who demand that ATSI children not be placed into state care, and that ATSI people not be imprisoned due to the misplaced perception of increased death rates in custody. The consequence is an innocent little girl is murdered by a grub who should’ve been under a prison cell to be frank. So yeah maybe in that sense Australia has failed them. Perhaps the BBC and their Australian ministry of truth counterpart, the ABC, are particularly culpable for peddling the ideology that endangers children by making it a cancellable offence to jail a predator.

  3. Australia is one of the worst countries where white people have used their colonial privilege to oppress the land's original indigenous people, South Africa apartheid is another example, but Australia is probably the worst cause because the white people of Australia originated from rejects and criminals from the UK. The apples don't fall far from the tree and I will never call a white Australian as my friend.

  5. Just google pictures of the condition of the house where the poor baby was sleeping in. Row of Jim beam bottles lining the shelves, rubbish everywhere, walls filthy and the mattress I can't imagine ever allowing any toddler to sleep on. She was failed already by those closest to her. And this aboriginal leader Catherine Liddle lamenting the full transparency of the situation by journalists? When would be a better time to bring attention to it? The girl's own grandfather wanted attention brought to it too. What a joke BBC

As for CPS, they're damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they take the child from their abusive or negligent family, they will then be accused of perpetuating another stolen generation.

  6. The problem with Australia's child protection service is that its woke just like the BBC. It prioritises ideology over the actual welfare of children by refusing to remove children from disfunctional enviornments because it doesnt want to be seen to be culturally insensitive.

  7. As an Australian i can tell you in the UK we have handed over everything to these people in relation to how they run their lives they receive more money…much more money per head than Australians from the government for education ,health .prison reform, employment schemes, land reform and rights etc yet they have actually gone backwards in every category they have the highest rates per capita of incarceration, violent crime, family and spouse abu$e,alcohol and drug abu$e ,unemployment etc .They receive monumental amounts of money from mining royalties and look at how they live.We who live here have had enough i knew it would not be long before WE got the blame for this and sure enough the very next day the paper headlines read "our shame" .all the money in this country we have thrown at their issues has failed terribly and now it is time to have the courage to look at the problem directly in the face and call it out.The problem is their culture .So stop wringing your hands over it and throwing away money that could be better spent elsewhere .There is a solid 65,000 years of failure to back me up on this

  8. Oh its not just aboriginal children. A fellow aboriginal killed that baby. We also have Gus Lamont who's us still missing and his family have no closure. This little girl was given an the attention humanely possible,, we all prayed for her, everyone searched for her. She received equal attention but she was found and Gus has not been found.

  9. British royal colonial history,, Australia is still under the control of the British royal family which is under the control of by the British government, what do British people think about still being a monarchy ,like Australia and what did the Irish think about it, i heard that nations in the British islands want sovernty, there is a long history of child sex molestation from Christian missionaries and government agencies and still goes on in ways, any opposition to their human rights usually comes from a sexualy deviant mind

  10. I was a boy scout in the NT, I'll never forget asking my troop leader why the aboriginal leaders burned their stipend every month in protest – he said because they were savages that didn't understand the concept of money. That was 30 years ago, it doesn't seem like much has changed
