King Charles and Queen Camilla will not move into Buckingham Palace after renovations

Date:

King Charles III and Queen Camilla will not move into Buckingham Palace as their permanent residence following the completion of its extensive ten-year renovation project. Instead, the royal couple will continue to reside at Clarence House, their long-time London home. While Buckingham Palace will remain the official administrative headquarters of the monarchy and the venue for state events, receptions, and official business, it will no longer serve as the primary domestic residence for the reigning monarchs.

  • King Charles and Queen Camilla have decided to remain at Clarence House rather than relocating to Buckingham Palace.
  • Buckingham Palace is currently undergoing a massive, ten-year renovation project costing an estimated £369 million.
  • Despite not living there, the King will continue to use the palace for official state business, receptions, and administrative duties.
  • Clarence House has been the couple’s preferred London residence for many years.
  • The decision marks a shift from tradition, as Buckingham Palace has historically served as the primary home of British monarchs since 1837.

  1. 370million pounds for refurbishing the Buckingham palace is a value for money

    Thank you

  2. Rubbish reporting. How do you fail to report on the most important fact? The Sovereign Grant is not made up of taxpayers’ money. The Monarchy surrenders all profits of The Crown Estate to HM Treasury, and they in turn send a small percentage of that back in the form of the Sovereign Grant to be used for official business only. No matter how much the Sovereign Grant is, the Government/public is receiving so much more from The Crown Estate profits.

For 2025-2026, The Crown Estate has sent HM Treasury £500 million. In return, for that fiscal year, HM Treasury has invested £132.1 million in the form of the Sovereign Grant. That’s a net contribution from the Monarchy.

This is one of the many reasons why I question why we pay TV licence to the BBC 🤦‍♂️
    What a fall from grace…

  3. I don't know though. King, did you steal my secret recipes? That's actually secret number 54 in this book I'm writing, "1001 Ways to Keep the Home." The rule is, 'if you've finally hired painters, you need to be certain you set aside a few days by the seaside as the airs dry out.'

  4. The royals don’t like Buckingham palace, The late great Queen Elizabeth wasn’t subtle at hiding her distaste for the building it’s not private at all and who wants people outside your front door day and night. Also Buckingham is owned by the British government not the monarch so it makes sense we spent all that money to maintain it.

  5. 這就像耶穌問門徒,作為王子要不要向世俗政府納稅,門徒說主,作為王子你不用向世俗納稅。但耶穌說即便如此,我也納稅,隨順眾生。

  6. Why don't the royal family pay for it themselves out there own pockets instead of taxpayers money where the money could be used for the people instead .it's taxpayer's money not theres so why do the people have to pay .

  7. 這些人為做作的人人平等,就像共產主義,最後落空。你只有有人家那樣的恩寵,才有資格說人人平起平坐。當然在人生命裡神性都是一樣的,你後天的罪惡深重,不知悔改,永不得見神。

  8. It looks like. a haunted house. Convert it into apartments and let public live in it with shortage of housing in UK. What a waste of space. The Royals accommodate their relatives in Kensington Apartment buildings. Waste of tax payers monies. Cannot wait William to be the King to make all the practical changes for public use. Except for the balcony it is useless.

  9. We need to abolish the monarchy. It’s fundamentally an unethical system and has no benefits for the common man. They often talk about soft power, but a number of countries have conducted successful diplomacy without paying through the nose for a monarch. It’s not worth it. The supporters are people stuck in the past oblivious of the problems today and the challenges of the future.

  10. Gosh, do you people ever stop finding fault with the Royal Family? If they moved into Buckingham Palace you would be finding fault with costs of the relocation. They are not above scrutiny but your reporting is not that… BBC do better!

  11. Yes, lets waste tax payers money. All £370,000,000.00 of public money, when the National Health Service is on it's knees. Meanwhile, we are all supposed to swallow what ever Royal spin can be put on this disgraceful waste of public money. Don't forget we already restored Windsor Castle.

  12. I walked past Buckingham Palace several times in the past 6 years. I didn't notice any construction work outdoors or indoors, though the latter would be harder to view.

The king isn't very rich is he if he's only paying £12M? That's B list Hollywood celebrity.

    Top tax payers:
    1. Fred Done & Peter Done (Betfred) — £400.1 million
    2. Alex Gerko (trading / XTX Markets) — £331.4 million
    3. Chris Rokos (hedge fund manager) — £330 million

    Celebrities:
    JK Rowling — £47.5 million
    Harry Styles — £24.7 million
    Ed Sheeran — ~£19.9 million
    Mo Salah — ~£14.5 million
    Erling Haaland — ~£16.9 million

It's interesting that Salah and Haaland paid more tax than the king of the country, which will fund public services, despite being individuals that are Egyptian and Norway citizens.

This is one of the many reasons why I don't slobber over everything whenever Charles is making an appearance. Yes, he's contributing, but he's not special or above everyone else.

  13. They where once the elon musk of old now days they are completely useless with sausage fingers and never done any work there whole lives, wheres im a primary producer and bring warmth to peoples home cutting firewood, wheres he brings taxs to your homes and gets all the luxurys in life, i work out in the field all day and cant afford diesel let alone any luxury,s in life they are just a picture on the internet to me, but you dont miss what you never had, but its not right!
