Dismissed Ukrainian Defence Minister Calls for Presidential Election

Date:

A former Ukrainian defence minister has called for the country to proceed with holding a presidential election, reigniting discussions regarding democratic processes during wartime. National elections in Ukraine remain suspended under the martial law imposed following Russia’s full-scale invasion. While officials argue that organizing a transparent and secure vote is difficult amid active fighting and the widespread displacement of voters, the call highlights ongoing domestic and international debates concerning governance and constitutional mandates during an extended conflict.

  • Ukraine’s former defence minister has publicly advocated for holding scheduled presidential elections.
  • Elections are currently halted under Ukrainian martial law, which prohibits national votes during a state of war.
  • Key challenges to holding a vote include frontline security risks, active shelling, and millions of displaced citizens living abroad or away from home.
  • The issue continues to generate debate regarding the balance between national security priorities and democratic continuity.

  1. Just because something is going wrong when conscripting young soldiers in to the army of Ukraine, Fedorov thinks he needs to change the entire government, in order to make Ukrainians happy with their government. Well….sounds to me like the corruption is asking to take the lead.

  2. Get the war over and done with, THEN have elections
Zelensky has no interest in being in charge beyond his current role as war leader
In my opinion, Zelensky is a true Hero
    Slava 🇺🇦

  3. This doesn’t change the fact that in Australia there are 48 million kangaroos and in Uruguay there are 3,457,330 inhabitants so if the kangaroos decide to invade Uruguay each Uruguayan will have to fight 14 kangaroos

  4. Might stop the gravey train
Ukraine was called multiple times the most corrupt country in the world
Good job president zalinski managed to turn the ship around can you imagine the billions donated by tax payers being siphoned off into Untraceable foreign Bank accounts
Mr zalinski has sacked high ranking people for suspected fraud in the past so we don't have to worry about corruption

  5. Federov asking for elections, NABU just opened another corruption probe into Zelenskey's circle and they just arrested another Nord Stream suspect that was also Ukrainian all in the space of 24hrs. He's gone soon.

  6. Fedorov seems to be on his way to becoming Ukraine's Peter the Magyar… The old and worn-out will go, and a new and bright face will come… The UK is preparing to change the Ukrainian leadership's facade…
