Microsoft executive Asha Sharma addressed the continued relevance of dedicated Xbox hardware amid the company’s ongoing expansion into cloud gaming and multi-platform software distribution. Despite the growing availability of Xbox Game Pass and streaming options on mobile devices, smart televisions, and personal computers, physical consoles remain essential for delivering high graphical fidelity and low-latency performance. Microsoft emphasizes that dedicated hardware continues to serve as a foundational anchor for its gaming ecosystem while operating alongside its broader cross-platform strategy.
- Dedicated console hardware remains a central component of Microsoft’s long-term gaming strategy.
- Physical consoles continue to provide performance advantages, including lower latency and optimized visual fidelity, that cloud streaming cannot entirely replace.
- Microsoft’s approach balances dedicated gaming hardware with the expansion of Xbox Game Pass across PC, mobile, and third-party connected devices.

The layoff comment was kind of unnecessary lol
Laughs in Steam OS.
She's pretty good. She handled this clueless BBC reporter with class. This reporter knows absolutely nothing about what she is asking, it's so obvious.
Remember, when in trouble, say blood of Jesus
she asked some proper questions, fair play.
Xbox in, Playstation OUT
I really hope Asha can turn Xbox business around after the calamity of the previous management decisions.
Well good luck to this side of the debate, we gonna need it
Nice try. I was a diehard Xbox fanboy in highschool, but even I can see the writing on the wall. Halo is dead. Xbox is dead. Microsoft should have been on top of PC gaming a generation ago (seriously, how did the company that makes the operating system for the majority of the world's computers fumble PC gaming that badly?).
If they're smart they'll leave the console gaming wasteland to Sony until they too realize there's no money in it anymore. Nintendo will hold out the longest until people learn how to actually make good games for mobile phones.
Everyone has a PC and a phone, and they can play anything you could play on a gaming console. There is no point in having a console anymore.
The United States has become a hub for the Indian diaspora. The CEOs of major corporations like Microsoft, IBM, Xbox and Google are all of Indian origin. What brought about this shift in the nation?
I hope d trump destroys this organisation, they force UK bill payers to pay for foreign services
I’m glad they’ve understood that Xbox is essentially a platform for selling games. I think Xbox hardware is going to remain expensive for the next 5–10 years because of the AI boom. As for Sony moving away from physical discs, I think it’s mainly to reduce the use of aluminium and gold in the disc manufacturing process, as well as to cut down on the costs associated with mastering and producing physical media.200 million for a master .
Reporter who doesn't know anything about gaming VS CEO who doesn't know anything about gaming
If you rearrange the letters of her name it spells "A WARM HASH"
Sad she suddenly said Gears of War is now just Xbox exclusive after Phil Spencer previously said it's not Xbox exclusive anymore.
