Drinking Very Hot Beverages Linked to Increased Risk of Esophageal Cancer

Date:

Consuming very hot beverages may increase the risk of esophageal cancer due to repeated thermal damage to the lining of the food pipe. Research suggests that this risk is linked directly to the temperature of the liquid rather than the ingredients of the drink itself, such as coffee or tea. When liquids are consumed at temperatures exceeding 60 to 65 degrees Celsius, they can cause tissue injury that may promote cellular changes over time. Health experts recommend allowing hot drinks to cool for several minutes before drinking to minimize potential health risks.

  • Regularly drinking beverages at very high temperatures can cause repeated thermal injury to the esophagus.
  • Evidence links drinks consumed above 60°C to 65°C (140°F to 149°F) with a higher risk of developing esophageal cancer.
  • The heightened risk is attributed to physical heat causing cellular damage, rather than the chemical composition of tea or coffee.
  • Allowing freshly prepared hot drinks to cool down for several minutes significantly reduces the likelihood of tissue damage.

  1. First I wake up to being gaslighted about 9/11, now you're telling me about drinking hot drinks.

Id accept this more had it been an NHS bulletin handed out by my doctor, but from the press?

This isn't news, it feels like literal propaganda.

  2. It is more likely to be the dangerous pesticides and insecticides that they spray on tea or coffee plants. Or, the dangerous toxins that are added to our milk to 'Supposedly' stop cows from passing wind. Honestly, what utter garbage. Our whole world is nothing but a giant pack of lies.

  3. Wouldn't the drinker already have spat out and stopped drinking if it was too hot? Is that temp higher than the temperature tolerated by lips, mouth and tongue? Isn't there other research topics to be funded? 😂

  4. This is true. My grandfather developed this cancer and died this year. He drank almost everything hot for about 12 years. He even drank hot water. The doctor said that this sort of cancer is common in Chinese and Japanese because they think tea a lot and sakai drink too. We are Pakistani. This goes on to show this can happen to anybody, anywhere.
The cases might be rare till it just happens to you.
My grandfather was a very strong village-man and strong willed too. He managed to struggle through 4 dosages of chemotherapy but it got him very very weak and then he ultimately passed away. We diagnosed it at the last stage, and doctors said that it is very hard and rare to find at first stage.

  5. This doesn’t change the fact that in Australia there are 48 million kangaroos and in Uruguay there are 3,457,330 inhabitants so if the kangaroos decide to invade Uruguay each Uruguayan will have to fight 14 kangaroos
