Rearmament Expert: European Reliance on US Weaponry is a Strategic Liability

Date:

European nations are facing a strategic dilemma as they rapidly rearm in response to heightened regional security concerns. While many countries are opting for American military hardware to meet immediate needs, defense experts warn that this reliance creates a long-term liability regarding strategic autonomy. Dependence on U.S. technology and supply chains grants Washington significant leverage over European defense capabilities. To ensure long-term sovereignty, analysts argue that Europe must prioritize the development of its own integrated defense industry rather than relying on foreign-made systems.

  • Experts suggest that purchasing U.S. weapons systems creates a technological dependency, as maintenance and software updates often remain under American control.
  • The reliance on foreign defense contractors can limit a nation’s ability to deploy equipment independently if political priorities between the buyer and seller diverge.
  • Current European rearmament is characterized by a “buy off-the-shelf” approach, often favoring U.S. products like the F-35 over slower-developing European alternatives.
  • There is growing concern that a shift in U.S. foreign policy could leave European nations vulnerable if they lack the domestic infrastructure to support their own military hardware.
  • Building a self-sufficient European defense industry is seen as a necessary step to decouple regional security from the fluctuations of American domestic politics.

  1. The solution the guest proposed seems the most workable, practical, and fair. The terms seem fair and the transit fee of one or two million dollars for a tanker carrying more than two million barrels of crude oil is nominal and will go toward reconstruction of the infrastructure damage done by the U.S./Israel bombing and compensate victims of the bombings. More importantly, though, is to prevent future attacks by Israel and the U.S. Iran wants guarantees that they won’t be attacked again and they want sanctions lifted. How to get the U.S. and Israel to agree to that will be very difficult.

  2. Canada is a founding member of NATO and has strong economic ties to Europe. I think Canada will be playing a more active and strategic part in world politics in the future.

  3. Fact:The U.S. consistently contributes the largest share of NATO’s total defense expenditure, often around 70% of the alliance’s combined spending. The U.S. maintains tens of thousands of personnel stationed in Europe, particularly in Germany, Italy, Poland, and the UK, which is more than any other ally. U.S. forces bring advanced systems like missile defense, aircraft, and logistics infrastructure that many European states rely on. So this is just Gaslighting the public. And if they are not buying from U.S who will they buy from, China? or their enemy Russia…

  4. Without NATO, the U.S. loses access to Europe. The loss for their military-industrial complex and the loss of the European market will hurt them more than it will us. While it creates jobs here, it will basically destroy their market. As the illegal war against Iran shows once again, their weapons are outdated, overpriced, too expensive to maintain, and a liability. They can't even keep up the delivery of Patriot missiles. The U.S. is bankrupt and slowly imploding anyway. 🤷

  5. I’m glad to see Trump’s once‑formidable voter base finally collapsing, signaling the end of his political career. In barely a year, he launched a trade war that crippled the economy, drove ICE into reckless actions that triggered DHS turmoil, airport chaos, and a sharp backlash among Hispanic voters. He unwisely reopened the Epstein files after Barr had contained them in his first term, and now his G7 partners openly defy him. His gamble on the Iran war to regain support only destabilized global markets. With midterms looming, his prospects look dire, and the nightmare awaiting him beyond 2026 will be even harsher. Short of a miracle, not even Fox News can rebuild his support.

  6. I think European Nations afraid to Iran because They don't have any Weapons that US and Israel have., to Protect Them Selves against the Iranian Ballistic Missiles and long Range Suicide Drones

  7. So, it should be understood that if the USA leaves NATO –
1)The democracies of Asia will not be abandoned and defense relationships will persist with the USA. To say otherwise is a LIE intended to manipulation popular opinion. It is the Europeans for whom
2)The Balkan states are a known quantity who's contribution toward European defense is complicated by internal resentments of the rest of Europe and whose transit of men and material can and probably will be blocked by Slovakia and/or Hungary
3)Spain is even more feckless than the Western and Central Europeans and would be a net insignificant contributor to join European defense.
4)Should an attack on the Baltic states occur, not just the Balkan state but Turkey would be all but useless to effectively contribute to its defense for reasons the fearful in Europe already exercise restraint

At the end of the day it is not the USA who is isolated because of its stance on NATO, it is not the USA who has turned in – These are fictions intended to save face produced by the scheming Western and Central Europeans whos plans to remake the world in their alternative image has shown to be destructive to trust and friendship built on the back of millions in Europe and the rest of the world.

The reset is in order and it should be the priority of the world to not let the provenance of Europe persuade it to revile the USA.
