Lebanon Asserts Diplomatic Independence From Iran in Negotiations With Israel

Date:

Lebanon is asserting its sovereignty in ongoing ceasefire negotiations with Israel, emphasizing that the Lebanese government must represent its own interests without external interference. Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri have pushed back against attempts by Iranian officials to negotiate on the country’s behalf, particularly regarding the implementation of UN Resolution 1701. As diplomatic efforts involving the United States and France intensify, Lebanese leaders are focused on securing a ceasefire and deploying the national army to the southern border region to restore stability.

  • Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri is leading the Lebanese delegation in diplomatic discussions aimed at ending the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
  • The negotiations center on the full implementation of UN Resolution 1701, which mandates the removal of armed groups other than the Lebanese army from southern Lebanon.

  1. It would be nice that the Lebanese army could be strengthened and funded so it can unify the country and cut ties with Iran. No peacekeepers needed and the Israelis will more than likely keep to themselves. Having Syria, Israel and previous French and US peacekeepers with Iranian interests have turned the country upside down.

Have Sunni, Shiit and Christian friends from the country who are all friends to each other, who detest what has and is happening.
