The proposed development features a pub adjacent to the supermarket premises, operating with its own separate entrance. The project remains subject to obtaining the necessary planning permissions and liquor licensing approvals from local authorities.

  • The venue is intended to highlight and promote Lidl’s private-label and award-winning alcohol products directly to consumers.

  1. Jake, we’re all watching for ‘legitimate work reasons’ too 🍺 Edit: surprise, surprise, the religious extremists in the DUP are clinging on to an antiquated law that no longer fit for purpose, ensuring the worst deal for Northern Ireland in the UK, as always!

  4. i have a question:
if publicans view their license as a pension nest egg 7:36 for the 'hospitality sector' 6:40 , what exactly are republicans doing to the world in terms of cosmopolitan hospitality, trying to enforce the surrender system onto anyone outside their views?

  5. The same system is in the Republic of Ireland, two have to be available and bought. My town in County Cork had over 150 licenced pubs plus a few unlicensed ones within the town wall area 120 years ago, now less than 10 and a hotel, one new one opened in last 10 years and only one left in the main street. We had one pub that only opened one day a year just to hang onto the licence or be forced to surrender or sell it. The owner died, an old lady, and licence sold, now offices and flats. There are five closed as the families in dispute over the will as to who should inherit it after the licensee died. The licences on hold until the probate sorted out. The premises slowly decaying, the council was forced to do emergency safety work to one as the front wall and roof was in danger of collapsing, hopefully the cost charged to the estate. A new housing development and the residents are miles from the nearest pub, not helpful in stopping drink driving offences.

  6. It's fascinating how unexpected legal rules can lead to surprising outcomes. The world is full of interesting stories, but the greatest story is still the Gospel of Jesus Christ
